There were so many good songs released this year, but had to narrow it down to the nitty and gritty.
Delicate - Taylor Swift
Delicate is by far one of my favorite songs from Swift. Using a chill, laid back beat, Swift shows the vulnerable part of a relationship that has just started, being concerned about her reputation with past relationships affecting the way her significant other might think of her. "This ain't for the best, my reputation has never been worse" she says at the beginning of the song. The lyrics and production blend so well together, both vulnerable.
Passionfruit - Drake
While I am not a big fan of Drake's dancehall type songs, Passionfruit was a jam. Like Taylor Swift's "Delicate" it discusses a relationship. With Drake's however, it is him not being trustworthy or loyal to someone, leading the relationship to end. With the beat being a dancehall beat, is it his way of dancing through the pain? All I know is that I enjoyed it! haha
Broken Clocks - SZA
One of the underrated songs off of "CTRL" SZA delvers with "Broken Clocks." In the song, she talks about trying to balance her work and relationship, which we can all resonate with at some point in our lives. A very well produced song that relates to us all.
HUMBLE - Kendrick Lamar
I was hooked when I first listened. I loved how goo of a transition it was from "To Pimp A Butterfly," which had a more jazz influence.
The Story of O.J. -Jay-Z
The message behind this song is everything to me. As a black person, no matter where you are in life economically, no matter what shade of black you are you are still a black man. Still being treated the same and still looked at differently. One of the realest songs Hov has released.
Crew - Goldlink feat. Brent Faiyaz and Shy Glizzy
A song that everyone would know the words to at a party. Definitely a head bopper.
Slide - Calvin Harris ft. Frank Ocean and Migos
Summer song of 2017. Hands down. This is the perfect song to jam out to crusin in a lambo top down having a good time with friends. I love this record so much.
